Struktuur 68″ is a company specialized in ceramics and was founded by my grandfather Henk Trumpie and his business partner Jacques van Gaalen in 1968. The work centre is located in several buildings in the centre of The Hague. The artistic craft work is all made in a manual way and is really hard and though to create. The company creates masterpieces for famous artists sins 1968. The works are various and are produced by different ceramists and artists. The studio was the first that gave the CoBrA-artists the opportunity to realize their designs in bright coloured and sculptured ceramics. They worked with famous artists like: Karel Appel, Armando, Jan Snoeck, Gijs Assman , Hans van Bentum and many others.
Yesterday I visited the studio together with my grandfather, it was fun and really inspiring! The building is an inspiring thing on its own, the walls aren’t flat, but are full of scratches and artistic souvenirs. The drawings on the walls created by several artists, the collection of wood on the corners, the sinks with rests of paint and glaze and the samples and experiments on the wall create a beautiful artistic atmosphere. The old dusty but very lightened building are an interesting contrast to the modern full-coloured ceramic sculptures. This is better than a museum, it’s the breeding place of art, where you can smell the inspiration.
